John Fletcher grew up in Cowtown, attending Alice Carlson Elementary, McLean Jr. High and Paschal High School before graduating from TCU on a tennis scholarship.

His father, broadcasting Hall-of-Famer Earle Fletcher, managed KXOL Radio in the 1950s and 60s, where he helped launch the broadcasting career of then-TCU student Bob Schieffer and he grew the career of KXOL disc jockey and comedian George Carlin. Mr. Earle taught John the importance of “doing the first favor” – helping others before they helped you. That attitude of service led John to become involved in a number of service opportunities.
